The Pre-Draft Stage of the Local Area Plan Review Process is made up of three phases:

The first step in the Pre-Draft Public Consultation phase is the publication of the Issues Paper and an invitation to make submissions. Submissions will be accepted from members of the public and prescribed stakeholders up until 4.30pm, on 29th July 2022.
The purpose of the pre consultation stage of the Local Area Plan (LAP) making process, is to establish an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the LAP town/settlement/area.
Requests or proposals for the zoning of particular land for any purpose are premature in this pre-draft consultation phase and will not be considered.
The Issues Paper aims to stimulate interest and engagement with the Plan making process. The responses received in the Issues Paper will be assessed by the Forward Planning Department of Roscommon County Council and will inform the preparation of the Draft LAP.

2. Assessment of submissions received
Forward Planning Unit undertake assessment of submissions received on Issues Paper which will inform preparation phase of Draft LAP.
3. Preparation of Draft County Development Plan
A Draft Local Area Plan will be prepared and placed on public display.
Once published, Stage 2 of the LAP process will commence.
